Professional Bio

Dr. Quillen is currently a postdoctoral scholar at Texas Biomedical Research Institute where she interested in the intersection of human evolutionary history and modern health. Her research focuses on developing methods for assessing admixture in family populations, gene expression in schizophrenia, and tanning response in Mexican Americans.

Dr. Quillen's dissertation identified two genes having undergone selection in Indigenous American populations which contribute to the modern variation in skin color in Hispanic populations. Her research was published in Human Genetics (http://www.springerlink.com/content/bq4mn02526q64640/).
