Lakelyn Smith

Professional Bio

Lakelyn is a Pennsylvania native who earned her bachelor’s degree in Anthropological Science at Penn State and is now pursuing her doctorate in Anthropology at Penn State under the advisement of Dr. Jacob Holland-Lulewicz. Her research focuses on enslaved and post-Emancipation communities in the U.S. Southeast. She works in the SAHND/SHEL Lab and has experience in zooarchaeology, soil geochemistry, GIS analysis, and paleoethnobotany. While much of her work is centered on Ossabaw Island, Georgia, she has also participated in a field project in central Italy.
