Herman Pontzer
Dr. Herman Pontzer earned his BA in Anthropology Penn State in 1999 before going on to his masters and PhD at Harvard University. He is currently an Associate Professor at Hunter College in New York, where he received the Presidential Award for Distinguished Scholarship. Herman is the founder of Australopithecus.org, which provides resources and data for researchers, educators, and students in human evolution; and he is the co-founder and co-director of the Hadza Fund, which supports medical care for Hadza foragers of Tanzania and provides information on their culture. His research linking energetics and functional morphology to ecology in the great apes and humans has been funded by the National Science Foundation, Leakey Foundation, and Wenner-Gren, and has been published in top journals, including Nature and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
