Teotihuacan Thin Orange Exchange Project

Teotihuacan Thin Orange Exchange Project

stack of thin orange ceramic bowls

Thin Orange was one of Mesoamerica’s most extensively trade ceramics during the Classic period.  Thin Orange is strongly associated with Teoihuacan culture as a ceramic used in both domestic and ritual contexts.  This study is examining both the technological parameters that led to the success of Thin Orange as a trade ware and the frequency with which was distributed over space.  This information will provide a reconstruction of both Thin Orange trade networks, the volume with which it moved over space, and the distribution mechanisms involved in its movement.
